Chakki Para

Chakki Para sits at about 220 metres above Vazhakulam, a short drive off the Muvattupuzha road near Thekkummala. The approach itself is part of the experience — buses or taxis run to Vazhakulam town, and from there it's an autorickshaw or bike ride to the base of the hill. Two-wheelers can ride up to the top, though parking space is tight, while cars have to be left at the base for a 30-minute trek up. Once at the top, the reward is the spread below: pineapple plantations, coconut groves and paddy fields laid out in a patchwork that stretches toward the horizon. There's no entry fee and no fixed timing, so the visit works around your schedule rather than the other way round. The climb itself is short, around 10 minutes on foot, which makes it an easy add-on rather than a full day trip. There are no railings or barriers at the cliff edges, so it's a spot that rewards a bit of caution rather than casual wandering close to the drop. Days are hot but there's a steady wind at the top, which takes the edge off. Evening is when the hill earns its reputation — the light softens, the heat drops, and the plantations below catch the last colour of the day.
