Indrachira

Indranchira is a lake and park set up in Kolenchery, just off National Highway 85, about 20 km from Kochi and 3 km from Poothrikka. The main draw is the lake itself, with a walkway running along its edge that gives a full loop of the water without having to double back. There's a kid's playground near the seating areas, so families can let children run around while the adults sit by the lake. Boating and fishing are both set up here, making it a spot where you can spend an hour just on the water rather than only walking around it. The best time to visit ties closely to the season. December to March is dry and reliable, with calm water and clear paths. October and November, right after the monsoon, bring fuller water levels, though the odd northeast-monsoon shower can still catch you out. The June-to-September southwest monsoon brings heavy, sustained rain, and outdoor spots like this can turn unsafe or get shut during peak flow, so it's not the season to plan around.
